Urogynecology

Urogynecology is an evaluation and treatment (surgical and non-surgical) of urologic issues for women. Some of these issues include stress incontinence, urge incontinence, and prolapse.

Definitions:

Stress incontinence:
Unintentional leakage of urine, typically seen with cough, sneeze, or strenuous activity.
 
 
Unintentional leakage of urine following a strong, uncontrollable urge to void.

Protrusion of the pelvic organs into the vagina.

Injection of collage or other material into the region of the urethral sphincter or bladder neck to improve incontinence in the face of ISD.
 
Using a camera-like device to look inside the bladder.
 
 
Specialized bladder testing to diagnose stress incontinence, ISD, urge incontinence.

An abnormality of the urethral sphincter function that can result in incontinence.
 
A bladder condition manifested by urinary urgency, frequency, and bladder pain.
 
A chronic inflammation and/or spasm of the pelvic floor muscles resulting in pain, which can be referred to the lower abdominal area.
